Call for Peer-Reviewers

The Editorial Team of The Scattered Pelican, the graduate journal of the Comparative Literature program at Western University, is currently seeking peer reviewers for the upcoming issue of the journal.

About the Journal

The Scattered Pelican is the double-anonymized peer-reviewed graduate journal of the Comparative Literature program at Western University. As an interdisciplinary journal, it commits to a pursuit of scholarship that offers diverse and deep engagement with various media and topics. The journal is dedicated to promoting research that is pluralistic in methods, approaches, and objects of study, while cultivating a playful perspective that challenges canonical discourses and forms of literature and media.

Who We Are Looking For

The Editorial Team welcomes applications from PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, independent scholars, and university instructors at all career stages. Reviewers will be invited to evaluate submissions and provide timely, thoughtful, and constructive feedback. Serving as a peer reviewer offers an opportunity to engage with current scholarship and the academic community while contributing to the improvement of published research.

We welcome scholars whose expertise aligns with the comparative and interdisciplinary scope of the journal, including but not limited to: Comparative Literature, Monolingual Literary Studies (English, French, Hispanic, Slavic, Arabic, etc.), Cultural Studies, Area Studies, Postcolonial Studies, Indigenous Studies, Critical Theory, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Art History, Digital Humanities, Philosophy, and Linguistics, as well as other relevant fields in the Arts & Humanities.

The upcoming issue of The Scattered Pelican will explore “the disruptions reshaping the humanities and our understanding of being human.” From the rise of AI to the increasing devaluation of the humanities, the upcoming issue will reflect on what it means to be human, to create and work within the humanities, and how to adapt to an ever-changing landscape.
